 Lessons

The Lawrence approach goes far beyond taking care of your voice.

We care for the whole person --

the artist, the performer, the creator within.

Read about the incredible ways you will grow professionally, and personally, under our tutelage.

Vocal Instruction

Learn how to sing seven days a week and never have a problem.

Our vocal tradition is specifically developed to help you reach your potential.  By learning to sing properly, you will discover a remarkable sense of freedom throughout your vocal registers.  This freedom will prevent any sense of vocal strain or fatigue, especially during live performances.

The Lawrence approach has one primary tenet at its core: sing as you speak!  With this guiding principle in mind, your new foundation of proper breath support, vocal placement, and vowel pronunciation, will help develop your personal sound.  Artists that study with the Lawrence tradition quickly expand their range, refine their sense of pitch and, most importantly, discover their true voice.  After all, well-spoken is half sung!

Don and Max both offer lessons remotely, and work with students around the world, including: Australia, Haiti, Japan, Switzerland, the UK, and many other countries.

Performance Coaching

Prepare for the world stage!

Confidence -- in one's voice, one's stage presence, one's image -- is often fleeting for many of today's artists.

Develop the tools to trust your voice and your sound.  Discover who you are and what your calling may be.

Through working the voice with a trusted coach, the relationship you build with us will serve as a touchstone for comforting your concerns as a performer.

Max in particular has specific training in coaching skills, and has spent years honing his capacity to help his students overcome performance anxiety through proven strategies.

Music Refinement

More than just lessons.

Beyond training your voice, we help you develop your personal sound.  Our trained ears can help guide you toward developing a commercial sound to your music, or to discover a new way to approach a cover.  Both Don and Max provide feedback and review of vocal material to refine tracks for the studio or for live performance.

For students local to the tri-state area, Max is able to travel with his artists to shows or join them in the studio for warming up the voice, live vocal coaching during recording sessions, and to help tackle performance anxiety in-the-moment.  Meanwhile, Don is often found traveling all over the world on-tour and in the studio with some of the biggest names in the industry!

Vocal Care

Care of the self is care of the voice.

The voice is an emotional instrument!  When we are feeling joyful or gloomy, our voice responds in kind.  How we care for ourselves -- from our diet to our social life -- has drastic implications on the quality of our vocals.

You will learn the myriad methods of improving what we call "vocal hygiene", or, the sets of behaviors that will allow for optimal use of the voice.

For singers who experience severe vocal concerns, such as having vocal nodules, our approach may help with retraining the voice to reduce nodules and other symptoms of past vocal strain or trauma.

Speech and Oration Skills

Develop vocal projection, power, and articulation.

You don't have to be a performer to benefit from the Lawrence approach.  Both Don and Max work with actors, emcees, radio hosts, TV stars, podcasters, and content creators.

Students from these varied backgrounds learn how to use their voice to communicate with power and intensity.  Those who rely on their speaking voice for their day-to-day career will benefit from the increased stamina and reduced strain that the Lawrence approach provides.
